Cock It

March - April 2007

I had to find a project to carry out for my third module (first year) of Interactive Media Production, the rough brief being to create an animation in Flash between thirty seconds and a minute long. I figured that since I was not at the time a great Flash animator - my ability extended to classy menus and the like, rather than hand-drawn animation - I should do something that wouldn't directly require any animating skills. Eventually, I arrived at the idea of stop-motion animation - although I rejected my original thought of using clay as that would be more time-consuming than my production period would allow. The Lego video I produced took two weeks to film and I had to purchase specialist stop-motion software as Flash couldn't handle the load of 400 bitmaps about halfway through. I took nearly a thousand individual photos, manually, throughout filming. My tripod broke on the last day, which is why the video begins to appear shaky towards the end. You can find it on YouTube and on Earworm's Myspace page, or just watch it here.
